View to Detroit, Michigan, United States Of America across the Detroit River.

The Detroit River is 51 kms long and has served an important role in the history of Detroit and is one of the busiest waterways in the world (Great Lakes). The river travels south from Lake St. Clair to Lake Erie (to the left and/or downstream in the picture) and the whole river carries the international border between Canada and the United States Of America. The river divides the major metropolitan areas of Detroit, Michigan and Windsor, Ontario - an area referred to as Detroit-Windsor. The two are connected by the Ambassador Bridge and the Detroit-Windsor Tunnel. We will use the tunnel under the river to get over to Detroit later on.
